Her journey to getting back in shape and maintaining her physical robustness has not been easy. But Rebel, on the other hand, has consistently proven that her success cannot be measured solely by her weight.

In an interview with the BBC, Wilson revealed That she did not need a tub of ice cream every night.' "That was me numbing my emotions with food, which wasn't the healthiest thing," Wilson continued.

It was then that she decided to make some flourishing lifestyle changes. She has previously stated that her polycystic ovary syndrome caused her to gain weight in her twenties.

She said, "My goal was to get healthier and lose the body weight I didn't want. I knew deep down that I wasn't the healthiest version of myself because of work commitments."

She said she was going through 'some fertility stuff' and wondered about her future, picturing herself as a mom. "And the doctor said if I got healthy, that would be much better for me."

Her desire to become a mom sparked the start of Rebel's Year Of Health Journey.

Although determined, she unveiled that she suffers from Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, making it twice as hard for her as an average person to lose weight.

With her strong desire to unfold a new era of health and goodwill, Rebel started adopting new habits and destructive coping mechanisms that she began to break loose—a fresh start to the Year Of Health.

Although we've all seen the bodily changes, Wilson claims that the most significant changes transpired on the inside. Wilson had the "Year of Fun" and the "Year of Love" in the past, and she was determined to make 2020 the "Year of Health." She had decided to emphasize herself and her well-being more than employment, claiming her 40th birthday as motivation.

The Hollywood Star Comedian declared 2020 as her 'Year Of Health' to her 10.9m followers on the social media platform as she posted a picture on Instagram; "Okay, so for me, 2020 is going to be called "The Year of Health," – so I put on the athleisure and went out for a walk, deliberately hydrating on the couch right now and trying to avoid the sugar and junk food which is going to be hard after the holidays I've just had but I'm going to do it! Who's with me in making some positive changes this year?" she captioned the post.

She confesses on Instagram live, revealing what she's learned along the journey, “I'm not a medical professional...I can only talk from my own experience and try to share some tips. There's no one book, product, or right thing you can buy; you can learn little tidbits about what works for you."

Factors That Helped Rebel Wilson's Steady And Uniform Weight Loss

Mental Health

Mental health is one of the most prominent issues people face nowadays. Even though widespread, the massive awareness has caused the destigmatization of mental illnesses.

But fighting mental illness is a layered process, and an ill mind requires as much care and nursing as a sick physical body.

Rebel mentions mental health as the essential step towards a healthy life and body. It required her to feel and process all her emotions and express them freely. Bottling up emotions can harm your mind and cause your body to become weak.

To change the flow of her actions, Rebel decided to journal her feelings and regulate her emotions.

"I'm a very confident, skilled, and an accomplished person," she says on her Instagram live, "but I still suffer from low self-worth and simply unable to love myself," Wilson stated that cleansing emotional writing was incredibly beneficial.

She sets a 12-minute timer, then starts writing off all of her emotions so they're not suppressed—then she concludes with between one to five things she's grateful for that day.

During her reflections, she discovered that the number on the scale has nothing to do with it. Wilson tells BBC, "I'm proud that the message got across is that it's not just about losing weight, but about me being healthier and happier.

I'm actively encouraging others to do, that ought to be the goal, not to fit some sort of mold, not to conform to whatever beauty standard society considers the beauty benchmark of the year."

Eating Habits

Rebel's statement came shortly, just weeks after admitting that retraining her unhealthy eating habits has been a big part of her wellness journey. She felt that whenever she didn't feel good enough, she would resort to eating. This led to her developing an unhealthy coping mechanism that eventually became an eating disorder.

So then, to let out her feelings healthily and not eat them up, Wilson started to follow strict rules to maintain her process's disciplined and uniform bodily growth, apart from journaling feelings that protected her mentally.

Sustainable Diet (Easy To Follow)

Her diet was severely restricted whenever it pertained to processed foods, dairy, gluten, and other typical food allergies.

She emphasized that she can eat foods like chicken, practicing "mindful eating" while doing so. Her diet was planned with ordinary groceries like vegetables replaced with high-fiber vegetables, low-fat ingredients, and high foods high in protein content for her to consume healthy nutrients.

Rebel enjoys a high-protein breakfast in the morning. For breakfast, she occasionally has eggs, spinach, and toast. Other times, she consumes a smoothie or prepares a vegan omelet. It all varies, depending on her available time and what else she has planned for the day.

The comedian usually has her lunch consisting of a salad with smoked salmon, grilled turkey breast, or seasoned tofu. She eats up a well-balanced lunch of protein and vegetables. If she doesn't feel like eating a salad, she eats toasty seeds like polenta with vegetables of her preference.

When she's in a rush, she'll blend a smoothie made with fresh greens like spinach, kale, and occasionally some seasonal fruit.

Dinner is usually the same size as lunch. On the other hand, Rebel has a rule: no raw vegetables after 3 p.m. Raw foods are more difficult for your body to digest, so your digestive tract will have much less time to break down the fiber and nutrients before calling it a day.

Calorie Count

She explained she consumes a high-protein diet, drinks plenty of water and healthy juices, and keeps her daily calorie intake around 1,500.

Wilson previously stated that before her weight loss journey, she "was probably eating 3,000 calories most days," adding that "because they were normally carbs, I would still be hungry." (Women should consume at least 1,200 calories per day, while men should consume at least 1,800 calories per day.).

"When you're full, you stop eating," she stated, "Whereas I eat a whole freakin' bag of chips- I devour it. Then there's a huge amount of calories, and game over. And yeah, no weight reduction that week."

She stuck to a strict calorie diet and kept her eye out for the calorie count. As she followed her calorie-counted diet, she slowly began to reach her milestones, one by one, until she finally got the set goal. Wilson says she'll "eat more and go into a maintenance stage" now that she's met her goal.

"It'll probably be around 2,000 to 2,500 [calories] because I work out like a beast," she chuckled, "so I do need a little bit more now that I've achieved and retained my goal weight."

Extensive Exercising

Rebel Wilson's trainer, Jono Castano, understands the impact a year can have on one's health and fitness.

The trainer and founder of Acero Gym in Sydney, Australia, worked with the "Pitch Perfect" star regularly during her "year of health" weight-loss journey in 2020, where she went from intaking about 3,000 calories per day to achieve her target weight of 75kgs (165 pounds) in November.

"The New Year is often a great way to begin working toward a fitness goal," Castano told Page Six Style. "The holidays are over, and most folks are getting back into their schedules, so now is the time to make room for your health in your everyday life."

Rebel Wilson's trainer Jono Castano understands a year's impact on health and fitness.

The Aussie fitness coach disclosed that they train pretty much every day together.

He explains that Wilson's workout routine consists of HIIT and mobility on day one, weights and resistance training on day two, HIIT on days three and four, HIIT and weights on day five, recovery on day six, and a final round of HIIT on day seven.

It may be a lot in terms of the number of days you have to train, but it doesn't have to be done at 100% of your capacity. He mentioned as long as you get your heart rate above a certain level, that's high-intensity.

The most important advice for people looking to lose weight is to have a goal in mind and understand that fitness isn't just about exercise but also about nutrition and getting enough sleep.
